Foundation

The Rotary Foundation of Rotary International is a not-for-profit corporation whose mission is to support the efforts of Rotary International in the fulfillment of the Object of Rotary, Rotary’s mission, and the achievement of world understanding and peace through local, national, and international humanitarian, educational, and cultural programs.

Every dollar contributed by Rotarians funds the humanitarian, educational, and cultural programs and program operations. Clubs and districts apply for and receive Foundation grants to carry out many worthy projects worldwide. In an effort to maintain sufficient funding for these vital programs, the Foundation launched the Every Rotarian, Every Year initiative, designed to increase annual giving to $100 per capita or more.

Rotary's $100 Million Challenge. This is a historic moment in Rotary's history. A new partnership has been forged between Rotary International and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation to provide US$200 million toward our priority goal of a polio-free world. This challenge grant is one of the largest given by the Gates Foundation and it represents a tremendous validation of Rotary's goal-oriented, business model approach to polio eradication. The Gates Foundation has agreed to lend its support to polio eradication advocacy activities as an important part of its relationship with Rotary.
